ColorLite sph900 portable spectrophotometer
The ColorLite sph900 is a portable combi spectrophotometer that brings the two standard measuring geometries 45°/0° and d/8° according to DIN 5033 into one instrument. ColorLite describes it as the flexible solution with the best handling on the market. The O-LED colour display and an intelligent interface that recognises connected accessories make it easy to switch between applications such as plastics, powders and liquids.
Two standard geometries in one instrument
With the integrating sphere adapter MA35 the sph900 measures both 45°/0° and d/8°. The 45°/0° probe head illuminates the sample at 45° and measures at 0°, while the d/8° probe head uses diffuse light from an integrating sphere and measures at 8°. An optional d/0° probe head, available as a direct or adapter version, illuminates areas of 38 mm or 80 mm and is used for inhomogeneous samples such as granules, food, wood and paints.
Compact probe head and a wide range of accessories
The small external probe head is well suited for measuring small and curved parts. Accessories are available for liquids, powders, granules, foods and cables, for example cuvette holders, powder sets, stands, target devices and calibration standards. When an accessory is connected, the instrument detects it and changes its settings automatically.
High resolution and short measuring time
A holographic grating spectrometer scans the range from 400 to 700 nm in 3.5 nm intervals with 115 x 16-bit values per scan. The 32-bit ARM RISC processor gives a scanning time of less than one second, and repeatability is below 0.03 ΔE CIELab. The white and blue LED light source has a lifespan of more than 20 years.
Simple handling in daily work
The menu has only four main levels: Measure, Calibrate, Settings and Memory. The sph900 stores 1000 standard colours in 5 folders together with 350 sample photos, and data is kept on FRAM memory chips so it is not lost when the battery runs out. Variable time and temperature dependent warnings remind the user when it is time to calibrate. Data is transferred to a PC wirelessly or via USB, and an integrated data matrix scanner is available as an option.
Applications and software
Typical uses are colour measurement and registration of incoming and outgoing goods according to DIN EN ISO 9000, objective colour quality control in production and colour difference measurement against reference colours stored on the device. For archiving and analysing measurements on a PC, ColorLite offers the database programs ColorDaTra Professional and ColorDaTra Basic as well as an ActiveX server for integration with your own software.
