ColorLite Densitometer sd350 – ColorLite

ColorLite Densitometer sd350 transmission densitometer

The ColorLite Densitometer sd350 was developed to meet the high precision requirements of the automotive industry. It measures the density values of product colours, such as plastic films, and combines high measurement quality with ease of use.

2-channel system for a high dynamic range

The sd350 uses a 2-channel system to give a high dynamic range. Depending on the density of the film, it measures with two separate measurement technologies and recognises automatically which one to use.

Transmission spectrophotometer with a real grating spectrometer

The sd350 measures the spectral transmission curve in 3.5 nm intervals and calculates density values as well as colorimetric data such as CIE L*a*b* or Yxy. A real grating spectrometer with more than 100 sampling points in the visible range gives results comparable to laboratory equipment, and density values are shown with three decimal places.

Solid aluminium integrating sphere

The integrating sphere is produced on a CNC lathe from a solid aluminium block and provides ideal diffuse illumination. The built-in LED light source has a lifespan of more than 20 years. The sd350 is made in Germany.

Calibration and verified measurement system

Zero calibration with an open path determines the offset value of the carrier material, and the trigger threshold is set automatically during zero calibration. Calibration is done with a certified BAM density 3 glass filter, and variable warnings remind the user when zero and D3 calibration are due. The sd350 has passed MSA type 1 and type 2 measurement system analysis studies for the automotive industry.

Options and accessories

As an option the sd350 can also measure in 45°/0° reflection. Accessories include coloured and grey filters, a Schott colour filter set, 6 mm and 2 mm apertures and the PC software ColorDaTra.

FAQ - ColorLite Densitometer sd350 – ColorLite

What is the ColorLite Densitometer sd350 used for?

The sd350 measures the density values of product colours, for example plastic films. It was developed to meet the precision requirements of the automotive industry.

How precise is the sd350?

Repeatability is ±0.003 D at 3 D, verified in an MSA type 1 study with 50 measurements. Density values are displayed with three decimal places.

Why does the sd350 have two measuring channels?

The 2-channel system gives a high dynamic range. Depending on the density of the film, the instrument chooses automatically between two separate measurement technologies.

How is the sd350 calibrated?

Zero calibration is done with an open path and sets the offset for the carrier material. Calibration is then made with a certified BAM density 3 glass filter, and variable warnings remind the user when calibration is due.

Can the sd350 measure in reflection?

Yes, as an option. The standard geometry is d/0° transmission according to DIN 4512-8, and 45°/0° reflection measurement is available as an option.

Who manufactures the ColorLite Densitometer sd350?

The sd350 is developed by ColorLite GmbH and is made in Germany.
